Track Season

Track Season funs from November through until the next March. Racing is held on Thursday evenings and on selected Sunday evenings at the Tom Flood Sports Centre.
The club issues a program of events at the start of the track season. Events are separated into age divisions for junior riders, while senior riders are graded to their ability. Entries for Thursday evening racing must be submitted to the officials in the clubrooms by no later than 6.30pm.

Race Entry Fee
There is an entry fee applicable for Thursday evening events of $5.00 per night for juniors and $6.00 per night for seniors. Prize money is made available on selected events.
Age Limit
Juniors must be at least 8 years of age to participate in cycle races. Age divisions within the juniors are Under 11yrs, Under13yrs, Under 15yrs, Under 17yrs & Under 19yrs. To be eligible for these categories the rider must not attian the age limit of that categore within the current calendar year.
J-Cycle
The club runs a novice program each Thursday evening through the track season, whereby newcomers can experienc e racing on our track in a controlled environment. Progression into the age divisions is subject to both the rider and the club officials being confident in their ability and to a positive assessment of their riding ability by an accredited cycling coach. It is endeavoured to give novice riders two riders per evening..
Club Bikes
The club has a limited number of track bikes for use by new riders to allow time for them to make a decision to continue in the sport before actually acquiring a bike of their own. As the number of new riders always exceeds the number of club bikes available it may be necessary to restrict the use of the bikes.
Race Numbers
Race numbers are issued to each rider and a deposit of $5.00 is required (refundable on the return of the number at the end of the track season).
Licencing
Once a rider progresses from the J-Cycle program it is a requirement of Cycling Australia that they purchase a UCI (International Cycling Union) licence. The cost of these licences varies depending on the age group. The Club also has an annual fee of $5.00 for junior riders under 14 years and $10 MO for undr 15 & 17 years.
The UCI licence allows riders to enter 'open' events organised by the VCI(Victorian Cycling Inc.) and other state cycling bodies, held across the state & interstate as published in their annual fixture.
Training & Clinics
Training sessions are ususally held at the Tom Flood sports centre on Tuesday evenings (between 6:00 & 7:00 pm ofr juniors) during the track season. It is hoped to provide some organised sessions by qualified cycling coaches. If club bikes are required for training sessions they must be returned to the clubrooms by 7:00pm. Clinics are also held most Sunday mornings at the Tom Flood Sports Centre. These give a good grounding in racing skillt to the less experienced riders.
