Bendigo Bank Academy of Sport (BBAS) / Regional Academy of Cycling Excellence (RACE) are committed to both“Making our Best Youth Better” and to“Helping you be the best you can be”.       In accordance with that objective we plan to deliver services during 2010 that go ‘beyond the bike’ and include specialist advice and sessions from  Nutritionists, Physiotherapists, Strength and Conditioning coaches, Injury Prevention / Management professionals and the like.

In the first of a series of these events on April 10 Scott Robbins of BikeFit Physio presented an excellent lectureregarding the importance of bike setup and an introduction to functional strength requirements and stretching.

Scott will be back again on Saturday May 1st to continue on from where he left off with a real life example of a bike setup.   In addition Ryan Worn will present a short lecture entitled ‘Pre Race Preparation for Higher Performance’.     These lectures will take place at Emu Creek Hall commencing at 1.00pm and we have again decided to open the day up to ALL junior cyclists, parents and other interested parties as well as the BBAS/RACE athletes.

We are doing this to both share the valuable information our presenters have to offer and to illustrate that BBAS/RACE is about helping as many as we can by ‘on and off the bike’ education, athlete development and support in the hope they may achieve their best in both sport and in life.

The proposed format of the day is as follows:

1.      1.00pm: Lecture by Scott Robbins of BikeFit Physio.

2.      2.30pm: Lecture by Ryan Worn on ‘Pre Race Preparation for Higher Performance’

3.      3.00pm: New RACE/BBAS Kit presentation to athletes.

4.      3.30pm: Ride with the sponsors, board members and supporters.

5.      4.30pm: Free BBQ for ALL attendees.

I urge you to spread the word amongst your members/colleagues and encourage them to come along to the Emu Creek Hall at 1.00pm on Saturday May 1st and take part in the afternoon.     Attendees can participate in the whole afternoon or just part……whatever time permits.

To assist with catering it would be really helpful if you can contact me and let me know you will be attending.

We look forward to seeing you on the May 1st .

Thanks

Leigh Worn
