Race began in mild conditions with Michael Johnston heading off solo for his 1st ride. The next bunch was hot to trot, reeling him in & breaking up, all before Sedgewick. Micah & Lance headed off in a big attempt on a result. At the Gooseneck it appeared they had succeeded, but soon after the young legs got to Lance & Micah was on his own. Around the Gooseneck the race came together ( except scratch )& the chase began in earnest. Scratch caught the bunch after the telephone exchange & the hunt for Micah began. Cruelly, he was run down with only 600 metres to go. Josh Gundry did a marvellous job to go around the bunch for a win after being caught further back than he would have preferred.
